I got pretty excited when my junior high crush hit me up on Twitter a few weeks ago.
I hadn’t talked to her in a few years and kinda forgot she existed. I was really hoping she was single.
The last time I talked to her, she was married with a kid. So I wasn’t sure what to expect.
She said she was still married — which I hated because I’m an asshole.
The more I talked to her, the more I remembered how cool she was. She was so sweet, too, talking about how fondly she remembers our friendship.
Which made me feel even more like an asshole.
It’s hard for me to not get blinded by romantic feelings when I become close to a woman.
In recent years, though, I’ve gotten a lot better at staying friends with girls I’m crushing on.
I’ve grasped a greater understanding of how beneficial it is to have feminine energy around. Whether it’s a mother, sister, friend, or lover, the presence of a kind, smart, and positive woman will always be worthwhile.
They’re natural caretakers and always looking out for you.
They’re interested in your passions and making sure you feel whole.
They’re gentle at a level many men are not capable of reaching.
I always get sad when I don’t end up with a girl I like. But the right women are always worth having around, even if it’s just as a friend.
