I've been playing a lot of video games lately.
I took a lengthy break from video games for a few years while busy with other stuff. But, with a new Call of Duty out and three weeks off, I decided to hop back on the sticks.
It was fun. I've been playing with the same friends I played with while in high school and college when I had nothing else to do but homework. It brought back a lot of memories.
It reminded me of the times I used to play Black Ops 2 in high school. It reminded me of when I used to watch competitive Call of Duty — making videos and writing articles about the events.
It reminded me of the friends I made in the scene. It reminded me of simpler times.
Nostalgia is deceiving, though.
Those times weren't perfect. We were annoyed by this, mad about that. But now, as we look back, it seems like times just couldn't be better.
We will look back upon our lives today in the same way. Is it perfect now? Certainly not. But we will almost certainly remember it as such.
Were those high school years where I did nothing but play Call of Duty fun? Totally. But they were far from being the "golden years."
My life has only gotten better as I have aged. I expect that to continue.
