Being on a giant boat for a week made me realize how much I enjoyed being away.
It’s very hard to truly disconnect from the outside world. The “outside world” being anyone and anything not within physical grasp.
Anything that’s a text, phone call, or social media post away requires a transport outside of the reality we are currently experiencing.
That transport allows us to see and know much more. But sometimes, it’s nice to just stand in our shoes and look at what’s around us.
This cruise ship contained music, people, laughs, and most importantly, alcohol. It was not hard at all to find enjoyment in these 11 floors floating in the middle of the ocean.
I expected my phone to find signal in Mexico or the Bahamas. I tried desperately to check in on the outside world. And luckily, the Earth’s vastness prevented me from doing so.
I missed talking to my parents and friends. But once I got back to land and checked my phone, I realized just how little I actually missed.
The cruise ship wasn’t true reality. But it at least allowed me to live fully in the place I stood.
