Before doing something new, it’s so easy to doubt yourself.
I’m now in Week 3 as the tour manager for Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band and feel so much more comfortable than I did in Week 1.
I was overwhelmed AS HECK at first. I was learning so many new things at once and wasn’t sure that I could handle the job. We’re now through nine shows, though — almost 20% of the way through the tour already — and I feel very comfortable.
There is still a lot I have to learn. But I can’t even explain how much I love this job. I am writing this from the van somewhere south of Atlanta, Georgia, coming from Tampa where we spent three days doing nothing. That’s right… I got a paid vacation already!
I fished for the first time in a long time and caught a few small saltwater fish, which was pretty cool. I also caught a nice little sunburn, which is something I’ve caught plenty of before.
And while that rest was nice, I’m at the point now where I’m really excited for our show tomorrow night in Nashville (which was last night when this newsletter will be posted).
The shows are where almost all the work gets done, but that’s also where the fun happens. I just love talking to all the fans; they’re all so nice, and a lot even ask me personal questions, which makes me feel good.
The fans for this band are very dedicated. There’s a Facebook group of over 7,000 people, and fans will come to my merchandise booth for a selfie so they can post it in the group. Here are a few I’ve taken so far…
The music is great, but the people are better.
I’m still very new at this, and there are some things I need to work on. But I’m building that necessary confidence — and it feels really good to be where I’m at.
You are hanging out with the greatest group of people ever!! I've known Aaron for many years now, and the BDB for more than a couple. Isn't life grand?!?
It appears Dylan you are enjoying yourself!! Very nice👏👏
